Over 30 lakh prasad packets to be prepared for Ambaji Bhadarvi Poonam Mela 2025

Banaskantha: Ambaji, a centre of devotion, faith, and spiritual energy, is set to host the Bhadarvi Poonam Mahamela from September 1 to 7, 2025. To ensure all facilities for pilgrims, 29 committees at the district level have been set up under the Banas Kantha District Collector Mihir Patel, who is also Chairman of Shri Arasuri Ambaji Mata Devsthan Trust.

Today, District Collector Mihir Patel performed the inaugural ritual at the Prasad House in Ambaji, offering prayers to the deity. Over 30 lakh prasad packets will be prepared for the devotees who will be visiting in large numbers during the Mahamela.

Patel provided guidance and instructions regarding cleanliness, safety, and smooth functioning of prasad preparation. The District Supply Officer has been appointed as the nodal officer for the Prasad Arrangement Committee to supervise the preparation and distribution of Mohanthal and Chikki prasad.

At Ambaji, Mohanthal prasad holds as much significance as the pilgrimage and darshan itself. Devotees traditionally take the prasad home as a blessing. Collector Mihir Patel emphasized ensuring a sufficient prasad supply for all devotees this year.

Each batch at the prasad house weighs 326.7 kg, prepared using 100 kg of gram flour, 150 kg of sugar, 76.5 kg of ghee, and 200 grams of cardamom. Notably, milk is not used in Mohanthal preparation during the mela. Arrangements have been made to prepare a total of 1,000 batches, amounting to over 30 lakh prasad packets. Around 750 artisans are engaged in the preparations.

To avoid inconvenience to pilgrims, 27 dedicated prasad sale centers will be set up across the temple premises and other locations. The inaugural ceremony of the Prasad House was attended by the Additional Collector, Ambaji Temple Administrator Kaushik Modi, District Supply Officer K.K. Chaudhary, and other officials and staff.
