Ahmedabad: City police arrested four men who were allegedly part of the mob that attacked 20-year-old BBA student Rohan Soni, accused in a fatal hit-and-run near Shivranjini Crossroads, at Gheekanta court on Tuesday afternoon.
The men, namely Adil Shaikh, Uzaif Ajmeri, Sahid Mirza, and Ayaman Ajmeri, were arrested the same night and released on bail the following day. According to the FIR, the attack took place as Soni was brought to court for a remand hearing. The accused reportedly emerged from a crowd of media personnel and relatives of the deceased and began assaulting Soni immediately after he stepped out of the police vehicle. One of the attackers allegedly threatened, “He killed our man, kill him too.”
The Karanj police booked the four under sections 115(2), 121(1), and 351(3), along with other applicable provisions. Investigators said the attackers were relatives of the two victims of the hit-and-run, Akram Qureshi (35), who died on the spot, and Ashfaq Ajmeri (22), who later succumbed to injuries at Sola Civil Hospital. Following the incident at court, police filed a separate case against the four accused. DeshGujarat
