Ellisbridge MLA writes to Gujarat CM over Disturbed Areas Act violations in Paldi
August 12, 2025
Ahmedabad: Ellisbridge MLA Amit P. Shah has written to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, raising concerns over alleged violations of the Disturbed Areas Act (Ashant Dhara) regulations in the Paldi area.
In his letter, Shah alleged that members of the minority community have engaged in illegal construction activities, including building bungalows on land belonging to Hindus. He claimed that from near the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee office to Kochrab Ashram, several structures have been erected in violation of the rules.
Highlighting one instance, Shah pointed out that in Nutan Sarvodaya Society, two adjoining bungalows were merged to create a single large bungalow, allegedly bypassing Disturbed Areas Act provisions. He has demanded that the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the Collector take immediate action to demolish such illegal structures.
Shah also warned against turning Ashram Road into “another Juhapura” and called for strict enforcement to prevent similar developments. He further hinted that in the future, buildings like Siddhgiri Flats and Kothawala Flats could be the next targets for such activities, claiming that over 100 flats in Siddhgiri Flats had already been vacated.
