Banaskantha: The heavy rains have eluded most parts of Gujarat since last week, with only light showers lashing isolated places across the state. This weather pattern is likely to continue for the next seven days. According to the latest press release from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains are expected in only a few districts — and that too, only until tomorrow morning. For the majority of the state, light rain is likely to persist until July 21.
The IMD bulletin states that heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, and in the Union Territories of Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli till 8:30 am on July 16.
After that, from July 16 to July 22, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and surface winds of 30–40 kmph is likely to occur at isolated to a few places across all 33 districts of Gujarat.
Meanwhile, a well-marked low-pressure area over northeast Rajasthan and adjoining northwest Madhya Pradesh persisted over the same region as of 11:30 am IST on July 14, 2025. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is expected to move slowly west-northwestwards across Rajasthan over the next two days.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Bikaner, the center of the well-marked low-pressure area over northeast Rajasthan and adjoining northwest Madhya Pradesh, then through Siddhi, Ranchi, and the center of a depression over southeast Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh.
