AIIMS Rajkot doctor booked after getting caught drunk

Rajkot A Division Police have booked Dr. Jigar Desani, son of senior BJP leader and former Saurashtra University Vice Chancellor Vijay Desani, after he was found in an intoxicated state during a routine night patrol. Dr. Desani, who is employed at AIIMS Rajkot, was caught early this morning near Hemu Gadhvi Hall.
According to the complaint filed by Police Constable Vajubhai Bharatbhai Dabhi, he and Home Guard driver Jaybhai Dilipbhai Nimawat were patrolling the A Division Police Station area in a PCR vehicle between 8 pm on July 14 and 8 am on July 15. At approximately 3:45 am, they spotted a car (GJ-12-DG-8574) parked in a suspicious condition near a drain behind Hemu Gadhvi Hall. Upon inspection, they found a man in the driver’s seat and a woman seated beside him.
As per the FIR, the accused, Jigar Vijaybhai Desani (33), smelled strongly of alcohol, was incoherent in speech, and could not maintain his balance. His eyes were red and glassy, and he appeared visibly intoxicated. When questioned, he stated he was a resident of Kalavad Road in Rajkot and currently employed at AIIMS Hospital. As he failed to produce any permit or justification for being in a public place while intoxicated, the police registered a case against him under Section 66(1)(B) of the Gujarat Prohibition Act.
