Speed Trials Begin on Ambaliyasan – Vijapur Railway Gauge Conversion Project
October 14, 2025
Ahmedabad: The gauge conversion work on the Ambaliyasan–Vijapur railway route in the Ahmedabad division of Western Railway is now in its final stage. As part of this project, a speed trial began today on the newly laid tracks from km 87/1 to km 46/2, starting with a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
Speed trials are an essential technical process carried out by the Railways to check the quality, safety, and stability of the track before commencing regular train operations. During the trial, departmental trains, measuring instruments, and technical teams will be actively working on the track.
Railway authorities have issued a special advisory to the general public, laborers, farmers, and local residents to stay away from the railway tracks, not to cross the tracks under any circumstances, and to keep children and animals at a safe distance from the railway line. Cooperation from everyone is expected to ensure that the trial is conducted safely, successfully, and on schedule.
Once completed, this 41.52 km gauge conversion project is expected to provide the region with improved rail connectivity and give a new boost to development. DeshGujarat
