Nadiad: An Armed Assistant Sub-Inspector attached to the SC/ST Cell in Nadiad was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday for accepting a bribe of ₹4,00,000.
The accused, identified as Jaideepsinh Kanjibhai Sodhaparmar, had allegedly demanded the money from a complainant whose relatives were facing charges in an atrocity case. According to the ACB, Sodhaparmar promised that in exchange for the payment, he would forgo arresting the individual and would only issue a notice.
The complainant, who was unwilling to pay the bribe, reported the matter to the ACB. Based on the complaint, officials arranged a trap. The transaction took place in the accused’s vehicle within the Special Operations Group (SOG) office compound on Dabhan Road.
Officials confirmed that Sodhaparmar was apprehended immediately after a purposeful conversation and acceptance of the ₹4,00,000 from the complainant. The full bribe amount was recovered at the scene. He has been booked for misusing his position as a public servant and for criminal misconduct.
The operation was carried out by Police Inspector H.B. Chavda of the ACB Gandhinagar Unit, under the supervision of Assistant Director A.K. Parmar. Further legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
