Ahmedabad Sub-Registrar offices told to verify Disturbed Area Permissions amid fraud reports

Ahmedabad: It has come to light that documents are being processed at the city’s sub-registrar offices based on fraudulent permissions under the Disturbed Area Act (Ashantdhara). In response, the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) (East) has issued instructions to the sub-registrar offices to verify all Ashantdhara permissions by scanning the QR codes before processing. Reports suggest that permissions are not being properly verified, as officials at these offices are allegedly engaged in corrupt practices.

The SDM has issued a circular to the Ahmedabad-1 (City), Naroda, Aslali, Vastral, Narol, Odhav, and Nikol sub-registrar offices, emphasizing that Disturbed Area Act permissions are issued through the eSarkar portal. Despite this, fake permissions with incorrect QR codes have repeatedly been presented during registration. Previously, fraudulent Disturbed Area Act permissions were reported at Ahmedabad-6 (Naroda) and Ahmedabad-5 (Narol) sub-registrar offices, prompting a formal letter on July 18, 2025.

Despite prior warnings, such incidents continue, raising serious concerns. The magistrate’s office has directed that all Disturbed Area Act permissions issued via eSarkar must have their QR codes scanned and verified before being accepted as valid, in order to prevent further fraud. DeshGujarat
