CBI Nabs Air Force Sergeant and Defence Accounts Auditor for Accepting Bribe

Ahmedabad: In a major action against corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Air Force Sergeant Jitendra Kumar, serving as Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) in Pune, and Auditor Ashok Kumar Jadhav of the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), Gandhinagar, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3.50 lakh.

According to officials, the arrests were made after a written complaint was lodged by Pune-based Hirkani CCRV Systems & Trading, alleging that the two officials had demanded ₹4 lakh, equivalent to 2% of a supply order amount for a CCTV project at the Air Force station in Pune. The bribe was allegedly sought to clear pending files related to the issuance of supply orders.

Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap operation, during which Sergeant Jitendra Kumar and Auditor Ashok Kumar Jadhav were caught red-handed while accepting ₹3.5 lakh.

Following the arrests, CBI teams conducted searches at the residences and offices of both accused and seized several incriminating documents and materials.

The accused were produced before the CBI Special Court in Ahmedabad, which has remanded them to custody till October 4 for further investigation.

Officials said the operation exposes the growing issue of corruption in defence-related financial clearances and assured that a detailed probe is underway to determine the involvement of any other officials.
