Bullet Train Project: Viaduct Launched Over Key Ahmedabad Flyover in 12 Days

Ahmedabad: The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Monday announced that it has completed the launching of a viaduct over the Girdhar Nagar flyover, a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) on the Delhi–Ahmedabad main line (Western Railway) in Ahmedabad district. The viaduct for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project runs parallel to the existing railway line, and the launching over the flyover was completed on 15th September 2025.
The work involved the launching of a 45-meter-long bridge using the Span-by-Span (SBS) method.

The Girdhar Nagar bridge, a two-lane flyover and one of the busiest in Ahmedabad connecting Shahibaug, Asarwa, and Kalupur, is a vital daily route for thousands of commuters. To ensure minimal disruption to the public, the launching work was meticulously planned and executed in just 12 days, well within the block period available till 20th September.
To further reduce inconvenience, all necessary safety and traffic management measures were implemented. These included barricading, traffic diversion signage, timely publication of route diversion information, deployment of adequate traffic marshals, and provision of sufficient lighting during night hours.

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor passes over 31 crossings in Ahmedabad district, including 8 Indian Railways crossings, 16 canal crossings, one river bridge crossing at the Sabarmati River, six steel bridges, and multiple road flyovers and underpasses. Of these, 15 crossings have already been completed.
