September 27, 2025
Gandhinagar: Starting tomorrow, the Koba Gam and Juna Koba Metro stations on the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro Rail corridor will become operational. With the opening of Koba Gam Metro station, connectivity to several key locations will improve for metro users.
One major attraction within walking distance of about 1.4 km from Koba Gam station is Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra, Koba. This distinguished Guru Mandir, easily accessible from both Juna Koba and Koba Gam metro stations, houses a Murti of Lord Mahavir that is over 1,000 years old. The site is also famous for the annual Surya Tilak, when sun rays fall directly on the forehead of the Mahavir Swami idol on May 22 at 2:07 pm for three minutes.
Another nearby attraction is Samrat Samprati Sangrahalaya, a museum showcasing a rich collection of ancient and artistic pieces made from gemstones, semi-precious stones, bronze, wood, sandalwood, and ivory. It also houses illustrated manuscripts, old paintings, scrolls, Mughal farmans, miniature paintings, coins, stamps, pooja articles, and Upakaranas used by Gachchhadhipati Acharya Shri Kailasasagarsurishwarji Maharaj Saheb. With a modern laboratory for preservation and restoration, the museum protects these treasures while promoting the ideals of Bhagwan Shri Mahavirswami, Jain culture, and art.
The State Headquarters of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Shri Kamalam, is also within walking distance of the station, around 1.5 km away.
For adventure enthusiasts, Abhivyakti Campsite & Amphitheatre is less than a kilometer from the metro station. Visitors can enjoy nature, educational camps, outdoor and adventure activities, and night camps without needing their own vehicles.
Another spiritual center nearby is Preksha Vishva Bharati, a meditation center run by Preksha International, a non-profit spiritual, educational, and charitable organization that holds residential camps and workshops on yoga, meditation, and therapy.
Within walking distance of the Juna Koba station, about 400 meters away, is Shrimad Rajchandra Adhyatmik Sadhana Kendra, a platform for spiritual sadhana through scriptures, devotion (Bhakti), meditation, and lectures from scholars.
There is also an old Shiva temple on the banks of the Sabarmati River, Kumbehswar Mahadev, within walking distance from Koba Gam station, allowing devotees to visit the temple while enjoying views of the riverbank.
Previously, after Koba Circle station, the next station was GNLU Metro Station, forcing locals from Koba locality and other areas within a 5 km stretch to travel long distances. The new stations will provide convenient access to metro services for residents in these areas.
