Rajkot: In its 178th board meeting held on Tuesday, the Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) gave the green light to a proposal worth Rs. 187 crore for constructing Phase-5 of Ring Road-2, connecting Ahmedabad Highway (from Kuvadwa) to Morbi Road.

For the construction of the approximately 10 km stretch under Ring Road-2 Phase-5 (from Ahmedabad Highway to Morbi Road), a grant of Rs. 186.96 crore has been approved. Additionally, a water supply project worth Rs. 60 crore for Ronki and Kangshiyali villages was also sanctioned. The board meeting, chaired by RUDA chairman Tushar Sumerani, passed approvals for several other works besides road construction.

The RUDA chairman said, “We are giving approvals based on the town planning schemes for the city’s development. For the first time in RUDA’s history, intentions for five town planning schemes have been announced simultaneously.” The board also approved modifications within the approved limits of Urban Development Plan No. 39 (Bedi) in the RUDA area.

Under the SJMMSVY scheme, a water supply project will be executed at Ronki DTP 38/2 at a cost of Rs. 31.50 crore and at Kangshiyali village OG area at Rs. 29.03 crore. Considering development in upcoming villages within the RUDA area, a streetlight project costing Rs. 3.40 crore was also approved.

Intentions Announced for Five Town Planning Schemes:

• Proposed Urban Development Plan No. 53 (Khokhaddal)

• Proposed Urban Development Plan No. 54 (Khokhaddal)

• Proposed Urban Development Plan No. 55 (Khokhaddal)

• Proposed Urban Development Plan No. 56 (Khokhaddal-Vadali)

• Proposed Urban Development Plan No. 57 (Khokhaddal)

Road Projects:

• Kuvadwa to Sardhar and Mandadungar to Mahika Road: Construction approved for about 2.43 km from Ahmedabad National Highway (Kuvadwa GIDC) to Kuvadwa-Sardhar Road (State Highway-23) at an estimated cost of Rs. 16.87 crore.

• DTP 77 (Vazdigadh): Asphalt road construction approved at Rs. 10.09 crore.

• Mandadungar to Mahika Road: Project approved at Rs. 2.42 crore.

• Gondal Road to Bhavnagar Road Repair: The road built by RUDA on Ring Road-2 Phase-3 (Gondal Road to Bhavnagar Road) has developed potholes. A resurfacing project covering approximately 10.50 km has been approved at Rs. 15 crore. The road will be newly asphalted, reducing commuter inconvenience.
