Amit Shah reviews action plan to tackle waterlogging issue in his Lok Sabha constituency

Gandhinagar: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting at Gandhinagar Circuit House to discuss the action plan for permanent solutions to rainwater logging, sewerage, roads, and other civic issues in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, according to a press release from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha BJP Media Department.

The meeting was attended by Minister-in-charge of Ahmedabad Rushikeshbhai Patel, Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Ahmedabad, along with Collectors, Commissioners, and heads of the concerned departments of Gandhinagar.

During the one-and-a-half-hour meeting, Shah reviewed the action plan prepared on the basis of previous instructions through a presentation. Both short-term and long-term solutions were discussed, based on surveys conducted in affected areas. Shah directed all relevant government departments to coordinate and implement short-term measures to address rainwater logging in Bavla, Sanand, and Kalol before the next monsoon season. He also urged departments to plan and execute long-term solutions for permanent relief from waterlogging.

Once implemented, the plan is expected to provide relief to residents of Ahmedabad areas including Bopal, Shilaj, Ghuma, Thaltej, Vanjar, Gota, Chandlodia, Sarkhej, Sola, as well as Kalol, Bavla, and Sanand.

The press release noted that despite his dual responsibilities as Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Shah constantly monitors his parliamentary constituency, staying aware of citizens’ problems and providing guidance to address them.

To formulate this action plan, 25 separate meetings were held earlier with the Chief Secretary, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary (Urban Development), Collectors, Commissioners, and other department heads. Additionally, under Shah’s guidance, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad Collectors conducted 10 separate meetings on schemes, tree plantation, pond renovation, rainwater management, sewerage, roads, and other civic works in Bavla, Sanand, and Kalol areas.
