Ahmedabad: Chandkheda police on Saturday registered a case against a 33-year-old trader for allegedly abusing police personnel, obstructing their duties, and taking photographs without permission during the VVIP security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy earlier in the day.
According to the FIR filed by a police sub-inspector, the incident took place around 5:15 pm near the HP petrol pump close to Hillock Hotel, where officers were deployed as part of the PM’s security detail while he was travelling from Ahmedabad airport to Gandhinagar. The complainant stated that while he and another constable were managing a barricade, a scooter rider attempted to pass through. The rider, a resident of Gota, reportedly became aggressive when stopped.
“He started using abusive language and took out his phone to photograph me without my consent,” the FIR noted. “When I objected, he claimed connections with influential people and threatened that he could have me dismissed.”
The trader was subsequently detained in a police van to prevent him from absconding, and an FIR was registered against him under Sections 221, 296, and 77 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita. DeshGujarat
