PM Modi to unveil development projects worth over ₹1 lakh crore in Bhavnagar

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the ‘Samudra Se Samruddhi’ program in Bhavnagar on September 20, 2025. To advance India’s development journey toward prosperity through the sea, the Prime Minister will remotely inaugurate MoUs worth ₹66,025 crore under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, including 21 MoUs related to ports and shipping. In addition, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for various projects worth ₹7,870 crore for the development of the country’s major ports under the same ministry.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will present multiple development works to the people of Gujarat. Under various departments of the Government of India and the Gujarat government, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth ₹26,354 crore for the state’s residents. In total, Prime Minister Modi will gift development projects worth over ₹1 lakh crore to the people of India from Bhavnagar. The program will also be attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarvanand Sonwal.

It is notable that during the Bhavnagar program, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for development projects worth over ₹2,500 crore under various departments of the Gujarat government. These departments include Energy and Petrochemicals, Health and Family Welfare, Roads and Buildings, Urban Development, Water Resources and Supply, and the Fisheries (Agriculture) Department.

Gujarat to Receive Development Projects Worth Over ₹26,000 Crore

Some key projects under the Union ministries include:

  • Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas: the inauguration of the HPLNG LNG regasification terminal at Chhara Port at a cost of ₹4,700 crore, and the Indian Oil Acrylic/Oxo-Alcohol project at Vadodara Refinery at a cost of ₹5,894 crore.

  • Ministry of New and Renewable Energy: the inauguration of a 280 MW solar project in Surendranagar costing ₹1,500 crore, and approximately 172 decentralized solar power plants with a total capacity of 475 MW under the PM-KUSUM scheme in 17 districts of Gujarat at a cost of ₹1,660 crore.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for various wind and solar projects under the Ministry of Coal and inaugurate road projects under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

100% Solarization of Dhorado Village, Kutch

Dhorado village in Kutch, recognized as the ‘Best Tourism Village’ by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), has achieved 100% solarization. Under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, all residential connections in Dhorado village have been solarized, enhancing the state’s solar rooftop capacity and enabling homes to generate their own electricity. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate this solar-powered village during the Bhavnagar event on September 20, 2025.

Inauguration and Foundation-Laying of Over ₹2,500 Crore Development Works Under Gujarat Government Departments

During the ‘Samudra Se Samruddhi’ program, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth ₹2,524 crore under various Gujarat government departments. Key works include:

  • Energy and Petrochemicals Department:

    • In Badeli village, Palitana taluka, Bhavnagar district, a 45 MW solar PV project on government land at a cost of ₹270 crore.

    • Replacement of electrical wires with Medium Voltage Covered Conductors (MVCC) in Bhavnagar, Botad, Amreli, and Surendranagar districts at a cost of ₹303 crore.

  • Health and Family Welfare Department:

    • Foundation for the Teaching Hospital and MCH block construction at Sir Takhtsinhji Hospital, Bhavnagar, costing ₹583.90 crore.

    • Foundation for the OPD, MCH, and Super Specialty Hospital building at Guru Gobindsingh Government Hospital, Jamnagar, costing ₹525.10 crore.

  • Roads and Buildings Department: ₹440.7 crore for projects including widening and strengthening roads in Kutch and Saurashtra, and construction of a railway overbridge on Jetpur Bypass Missing Link Road.

  • Urban Development Department: ₹267.16 crore, including:

    • Construction of a 45 MLD capacity new sewage treatment plant in Kumbarwada, Bhavnagar, a four-lane paved road from Kumbarwada to Dasnala, and an underground drainage project in Vartej village.

    • In Jamnagar: inauguration of a railway overbridge at LC No. 188 (Hapa), Phase-1 sports complex on Khambhaliya Road, and restoration of Bhujia Kotah.

  • Water Resources Department: ₹56 crore for the ‘Chanch Anti-Se Erosion’ project in Chanch village, Rajula taluka, Amreli district.

  • Water Supply Department: ₹38.27 crore for the Junagadh-Vanthali improved group water supply scheme.
