Gandhinagar: The Gandhinagar police carried out a major operation, tracing the accused in a Love Jihad case from Assam and ensuring the safe return of the girl he had allegedly abducted to her family. The police teams from Gandhinagar searched across multiple districts in Assam for over a week before locating the accused, Soif Abdul Manaf Uddin, on Thursday and returning the girl safely to her family.
The case involved a 20-year-old girl from a village near Gandhinagar who had recently gone missing. Her father filed a report at the police station. Investigation revealed that a young man from Assam, living nearby on rent, had lured her under the pretext of love and taken her to Assam. The accused, Soif Abdul Manaf Uddin, worked as a cleaning supervisor at a hotel in Gandhinagar.
Suspecting a ‘Love Jihad’ case, the girl’s family approached Ravi Teja Vasamsetti, Superintendent of Police, Gandhinagar. Subsequently, teams from the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Sector-7 police launched an investigation. Through technical analysis and tracking by PSI U.M. Gadhvi and his team from Sector-7, along with JJ Gadhvi’s team from LCB-1, both the accused and the missing girl were traced. Despite the difficulty caused by the accused keeping his mobile on flight mode and using Wi-Fi calling only, the teams successfully located him.
Yesterday, the accused was found and arrested from a village under Murajar Police Station in Hojai district, Assam. The girl was safely rescued and returned to Gandhinagar, where she was handed over to her family.
The operation was praised by Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghvi, who congratulated the entire Gandhinagar police team for their efforts in tracing the accused and ensuring the girl’s safe return. DeshGujarat
