Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to host ‘biggest’ blood donation camp for PM Modi’s 75th birthday

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17 will be celebrated with what is being called the world’s largest blood donation campaign, organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP).

As part of the initiative, the biggest blood donation camp will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, which is expected to see participation of over 20,000 people.

Globally, approximately 7,500 camps are planned across 75 countries, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Australia, and the UK, with the aim of collecting around three lakh units of blood in a single day. The Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate the nationwide initiative.

The camp will begin at 6 a.m. at the stadium. Gates 1 and 2 will be open for walk-in entries, Gate 3 for vehicles with parking, and Gate 4 for VIPs. Around 1,500 volunteers from the Terapanth Yuvak Parishad and over 500 from the National Service Scheme (NSS) will assist during the camp. More than 75 blood banks from across Gujarat will participate in the drive.

Organizers have also made arrangements to deliver blood to homes on request, ensuring that it reaches those in need quickly. The drive aims to encourage citizens to contribute, especially first-time donors, creating a historic moment while helping save lives.

ABTYP President Ramesh Daga and General Secretary Amit Nahata said the drive will engage 75,000 youth workers, 4,000 blood banks, 5,000 doctors, 25,000 technicians, over 1 lakh volunteers, and more than 3 lakh donors.

The mega blood donation drive, organized by the Terapanth Yuvak Parishad as part of Raktadan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0, is supported by over 50 social organizations, trade bodies, and educational institutions to ensure its success. Participating organizations include the Gujarat Cricket Association, Gujarat University, Gujarat State Council for Blood Transfusion, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Vishva Umiya Foundation, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Lion International, Maskati Kapad Market Mahajan (Ahmedabad), and Vishva Hindu Parishad – Gujarat.
