Rajkot: The Income Tax Department today launched a massive search operation at nearly 40 locations linked to prominent businessmen, builders, and ceramic industry players in Morbi and Rajkot. This action, involving over 250 officials, comes just ahead of the Diwali season.

It is learnt that the searches target premises linked to land trader Paresh Patel, builder Rajubhai (Face Group), and Jitubhai Rozwadia of Levis Ceramic Group, along with their associates.

According to reports, the searches began in the early hours, targeting residences, offices, and factories. Teams from Rajkot had moved into position late last evening, catching several suspects unprepared. The search operation, which is expected to continue through the day, is focused on unearthing unaccounted transactions, with preliminary findings pointing to large-scale irregularities.

The large-scale action by the Income Tax Department has also caused unease across other industrial units in the region. Officials said the ongoing mega operation is one of the most extensive in recent times. DeshGujarat
