Rains to ease across Gujarat; IMD forecasts light to moderate showers till Sept 15

Ahmedabad: After a spell of heavy rains that lashed several parts of Gujarat last week, the state is likely to see some relief in the coming days, though light to moderate showers will continue in many districts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department, in its latest forecast, said the depression over southeast Pakistan has moved southwestwards and is expected to gradually weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 12 hours. It is likely to re-emerge into the northeast Arabian Sea before moving westwards.

With the system moving away, rainfall intensity over Gujarat is expected to ease, bringing relief to regions battered by incessant downpours over the past week. However, scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast across North Gujarat, South Gujarat, Saurashtra, and parts of Kutch over the next few days.

According to the seven-day outlook, districts including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Patan, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Bhavnagar may continue to experience intermittent showers. South Gujarat districts such as Navsari, Valsad, Bharuch, and Narmada are expected to see comparatively higher rainfall activity towards the weekend. DeshGujarat
