One dead, several hospitalized after gas leak at Gujarat Fluorochemicals plant

Panchmahal: One person died and several others were hospitalized after a gas leak at Gujarat Fluorochemical Limited (GFL) in Ghoghamba taluka of Panchmahal district on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, 25 people were hospitalized. Among them, five workers sustained severe burn injuries, while others were critically affected by gas exposure.
An investigation has been initiated. District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Haresh Dudhat and Additional Collector J. J. Patel visited the site to oversee rescue operations and the preliminary probe.
Panchmahal District Collector Ajay Dahiya said, “Fifteen ambulances were rushed to the site immediately after the incident. The blast was followed by a gas leak that impacted around 25 workers. They have been shifted to the sub-district hospital in Halol and two private facilities — Maa and Krupalu. Their condition is being monitored, and those requiring advanced treatment will be referred to Vadodara.”
DSP Haresh Dudhat added, “We received information about a gas leak at Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited at 12:10 pm today. Workers who complained of nausea were immediately given antidotes at the on-site Occupational Health Centre and then referred to hospitals. One person has died in the incident. People living in nearby villages should not panic.” DeshGujarat
