Nadiad: Members of the Hindu Dharma Sena today filed a written complaint with Nadiad West Police, alleging the operation of a suspicious religious conversion racket in the city and demanding strict legal action.
It has been alleged that the conversion activities are being carried out at a house in Ashirwad Society, with an organization called “Restoration and Revival Bible” reportedly behind the operations. The Hindu Dharma Sena claimed that the group is brainwashing more than 40 young men and women to convert them to another religion. It is also alleged that most of these youths were brought from tribal areas such as Panchmahal and Dahod.
Addressing the media, Rajan Tripathi of the Hindu Dharma Sena said, “We believe a massive racket of religious conversion has been going on here for the past 2–3 years. People are being brought from other areas and lured into converting to Christianity.”
V. R. Bajpayee, DySP Nadiad, stated, “The police have launched an investigation following a complaint filed under Sections 4(a) and 4(b) of the Gujarat Religious Freedom Act.”
Following the complaint, Nadiad Town Police promptly visited Ashirwad Society and recorded statements from all youths involved in the alleged activities. Preliminary findings suggest that some youths from Dahod and surrounding areas were lured with promises that converting to Christianity would bring happiness in life and salvation in the afterlife, the police said.
Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation to ascertain the facts. No arrests have been made so far, but the police are thoroughly examining all aspects of the case. The incident has created a stir locally and sparked anger among Hindu organizations. DeshGujarat
