ACB Gujarat Nabs Court Superintendent in Bribe Case

Anand: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a Court Superintendent (Class 3) posted at the Anand District Court in a trap operation for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15,000.

The accused, Usmangani Ismailgani Mir, was serving as Superintendent in the court of the 4th Additional Senior Civil Judge, Anand, and resides at Iqra Residency, near Bhalej Overbridge.

According to the ACB, the complainant’s house was under judicial proceedings at the Civil Court, Anand, initiated by a bank under the SARFAESI Act to take possession of the property. On April 23, 2025, the Civil Court, Anand, ordered that possession of the complainant’s house be handed over to the bank.

For execution of this order, the court directed that proceedings be carried out through the Court Commissioner. Accordingly, on August 31, 2025, the Court Commissioner, along with the accused, went to the complainant’s residence to hand over possession of the house to the bank. However, possession was not given to the bank at that time.

Later, the accused contacted the complainant and demanded a bribe of ₹25,000 in return for providing information about when court staff would come to take possession of the house and when the next possession notice would be issued. Out of this amount, the accused had already taken ₹10,000 in advance and was demanding the remaining ₹15,000.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint. Based on this, a trap was organized today. During the operation, the accused engaged in incriminating conversation with the complainant, demanded and accepted ₹15,000 as a bribe, and was caught red-handed.

The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
