Japanese delegation meets Gujarat CM; visits semiconductor units in Dholera SIR

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Gandhinagar, led by Sasaki Jun, Vice Governor of Iwate Prefecture, Japan.

The delegation had come to India to participate in Semicon India 2025, held in New Delhi. During their visit, they toured Japanese semiconductor industries operating in the state.

The delegation visited semiconductor units in Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) before meeting Chief Minister Patel in Gandhinagar, where they expressed gratitude for the support extended by the Gujarat government to Japanese industries. They were notably impressed by the rapid growth of the semiconductor sector in the state.

During the discussions, Chief Minister Patel highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bilateral India-Japan relations would further encourage Japanese investments in Gujarat’s semiconductor sector. He also emphasized that Gujarat currently hosts four semiconductor plants and is steadily advancing toward becoming a prominent semiconductor hub.

The Chief Minister expressed keen interest in establishing long-term collaboration with Iwate Prefecture in areas such as technical support, practical skill development, research and development, and production of high-quality products to strengthen Gujarat’s semiconductor ecosystem.
