NIRF Rankings 2025: IITGN, IIMA, GNLU, GU, PDEU among top institutes from Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The Union government today released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings of the country’s top colleges this year, and several Gujarat institutions such as IIT Gandhinagar, IIM Ahmedabad, Gujarat University, PDEU, and SVNIT have shined in these rankings.

In the overall category, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) became the only institute from the state to secure the 39th rank with a score of 57.01. Additionally, IITGN has also secured the 36th place in the category of Research Institutions with 49.61 points.

Among the top 100 universities, Gujarat University has found its place at the 74th rank with a score of 49.74, which is 20 positions higher than last year’s ranking. Notably, it is the only university from Gujarat to make it to the top 100 in this category. Furthermore, the university has been ranked 25th among State Public Universities.

In the Engineering category, IITGN has been ranked 25th, while Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) has been ranked 66th. Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) has also made it into the top 100 engineering institutes at the 98th place.

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has topped the list of management colleges, while four other colleges from the state have also made it to this list. MICA has been ranked 33rd, Nirma University and the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) have achieved 53rd and 54th ranks respectively. PDEU has performed better in this category, securing the 89th rank.

In the Pharma category, seven institutions from Gujarat are featured this year. Among them, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) Ahmedabad is ranked 21st, Nirma University is ranked 32nd, Parul University is at 41st, LM College of Pharmacy is at 45th, MSU at 46th, GTU at 58th, and Ramanbhai Patel College of Pharmacy at 98th.

In the Medical Institutions category, two establishments have found their place: Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute and B. J. Medical College, ranked 44th and 45th respectively. Meanwhile, the Government Dental College is ranked 37th in the Dental College category.

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) has improved its ranking from 8th in 2024 to 5th this year, while Nirma University has secured the 33rd position.

Three institutions from the state have been ranked in the Architecture and Planning category: Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University at 6th, Nirma University at 29th, and Anant National University at 40th.

Anand Agricultural University and Navsari Agricultural University have been ranked 27th and 34th respectively in the category of institutions dealing with Agriculture and Allied Sectors.

However, Gujarat still needs to improve in categories such as Innovation, Open Universities, Skill Universities, and SDG Institutions, as none of the state’s institutions found a place in these rankings.
