Gandhinagar: Gujarat Police launched the I-PRAGATI (Intelligent Progress Reporting and Grievance Addressing through Technology Initiative) about three months ago to ensure that citizens do not have to visit police stations repeatedly for updates on their cases.
Under this system, automatic SMS updates are sent to complainants regarding the progress of their police complaints, eliminating the need for repeated visits to police stations. Since its launch, from May 14, 2025, to August 28, 2025, I-PRAGATI has sent millions of SMS updates to citizens, including over 1.59 lakh SMS on FIR registration, over 1.65 lakh SMS on Panchnama, more than 25,000 SMS on notices, over 26,000 SMS on accused bail, more than 1.58 lakh SMS on accused arrests, over 89,000 SMS on property recovery, and more than 1.63 lakh SMS on charge sheets. This has ensured timely updates for citizens and made the legal process more transparent and accessible, the Gujarat government said today.
The initiative also allows police officers and employees to save time answering routine queries, enabling them to focus on case investigations. A record of every process is maintained in the system, helping higher authorities monitor case progress effectively.
