September 02, 2025
Ahemdabad: The much-awaited Gujarati horror sequel Vash Level 2 has completed its first week in theatres with a net collection of approximately ₹8.1 crore in India as of September 2, 2025, rapidly closing in on its estimated ₹8 crore production budget. Released on August 27 during Ganesh Chaturthi, the film has already recovered nearly all production costs, putting it on the verge of entering the profit zone.
Cast and Crew
Directed by Krishnadev Yagnik and produced by Big Box Series, Patel Processing, Ananta Businesscorp, and KS Entertainment Studios, Vash Level 2 is a follow-up to the 2023 hit Vash. The film stars Janki Bodiwala (Aarya), Hitu Kanodia (Atharva), Hiten Kumar (Pratap), and Monal Gajjar, with supporting performances by Vishwa Rawal, Hansi Bapat, Chetan Daiya, and Prem Gadhvi.
Pan-India Release
Notably, the film was released simultaneously in Gujarati and Hindi, making it the first Gujarati film to have a nationwide pan-India release with a Hindi dubbed version.
Plot and Audience Reception
Picking up 12 years after the events of the first film, the story follows Atharva as he confronts supernatural forces threatening his daughter and other schoolgirls. Unlike the first installment, the chilling events are set within a girls’ school, adding fresh suspense. Fans of horror and regional cinema have responded positively, with the film currently holding an 8.1/10 IMDb rating.
Box Office Performance
The opening week saw steady daily collections, including ₹1.3 crore on Day 1 and a weekend surge to ₹2.2 crore on Day 5. On its first Monday (Day 6), the film earned ₹0.59 crore net, with the Gujarati version contributing ₹0.28 crore and the Hindi version ₹0.31 crore. Despite the usual weekday drop, overall occupancy remained healthy, particularly in urban centres. By the end of Day 7, the film’s net collection is likely to cross ₹8.1 crore, signalling strong audience retention.
Regional Success and Profit Forecast
Both Gujarati and Hindi versions contributed to the film’s success, with the Gujarati version taking a slight lead. High occupancy and positive word-of-mouth have positioned Vash Level 2 as one of 2025’s most successful regional horror releases, with industry analysts predicting profitability by Day 8.
Legacy of the First Film
The original Vash achieved national acclaim, winning the Best Gujarati Feature Film award at the 71st National Film Awards, while Janki Bodiwala earned Best Supporting Actress. The first film was adapted into Hindi as Shaitaan (2024), starring Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Jyothika, with Bodiwala reprising her role.
Pan-Indian Appeal
With its strong first week, robust audience response, and pan-Indian appeal, Vash Level 2 reinforces the growing reach of Gujarati cinema and the rising popularity of regional horror films in India.
