Sterling Hospital Vadodara Fined ₹1.51 Lakh

Vadodara: The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has imposed a fine of ₹1.51 lakh on Sterling Hospital after it was found dumping medical waste in Gotri Garden, posing a serious threat to public health and the environment.

Medical waste from Sterling Hospital was discovered in the garden during recent inspections. Dumping hazardous waste in open areas not only endangers the environment but also violates biomedical waste management rules.

Following this, the GPCB conducted an inquiry and confirmed the improper disposal of hospital waste. Based on this violation, the Board levied a penalty of ₹1.51 lakh against the hospital.

Authorities emphasized that biomedical waste must be disposed of only through authorized agencies and warned that strict action would be taken against institutions failing to comply with the rules.

Environmental activists and residents had raised concerns about such irresponsible practices, highlighting risks of infection, contamination, and harm to the community.

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has also been urged to remain vigilant and ensure that hospitals and medical institutions strictly follow biomedical waste disposal guidelines to avoid similar incidents in the future. DeshGujarat
