Railway Safety Inspection Underway for Khedbrahma-Himmatnagar Broad-Gauge Line

Himmatnagar: The gauge conversion project from Himmatnagar to Khedbrahma is nearing completion, with the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) of the Western Railway Circle conducting an inspection. Covering a 55 km stretch in Sabarkantha district, the project involves converting the existing metre-gauge track into broad gauge.

The inspection, which commenced from Himatnagar, included a thorough assessment of station facilities and track infrastructure. Using a motor trolley, the team covered a 20 km stretch up to Jader, conducting detailed checks of station amenities, track geometry, curves, bridges, and road under-bridges (RUBs).

The inspection team included Ved Prakash, CRS Western Railway Circle; Pradeep Gupta, Chief Administrative Officer; Chief Track Engineer; Chief Operations Manager (G); and senior officials from the Construction and Open Line departments.

Once fully operational, the upgraded line is expected to reduce travel time and enhance freight transport. In the current phase, the 31 km Himmatnagar–Idar section is planned to open first, while the 23.83 km Idar–Khedbrahma section is targeted for commissioning in September 2025.

The Himatnagar–Khedbrahma gauge conversion project, approved on June 2, 2022, covers a total of 55 km in Sabarkantha district and is being executed at a cost of ₹482 crore. DeshGujarat
