Ahmedabad: The newly built Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Naranpura, Ahmedabad, recently hosted the 51st Junior National Aquatic Championships from August 3 to 7. The event brought together the country’s best junior swimmers to compete and showcase their talent on a prestigious national platform.
Organized at the international-standard Aquatic Stadium within the sprawling 21-acre complex, the championship featured young athletes competing in two age categories—Group I and Group II—across all swimming strokes, including freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke. The event also included relay races that highlighted teamwork and competitive spirit.
“The championships are not just about winning medals but about providing a platform for emerging talent,” said an official from the Swimming Federation of India. Spectators, including enthusiastic parents, coaches, and supporters, created an electric atmosphere during both morning and evening sessions.
The Aquatic Stadium, equipped with cutting-edge Myrtha Technology pools, boasts a seating capacity of 1,500, making it ideal for national and Commonwealth-level events. The flexible pool size can be adjusted to accommodate different competition requirements, helping reduce water usage and improve safety.
