New Delhi: The Central government on Friday appointed Gujarat cadre IAS officer Sujal Jayantibhai Mayatra (2011 batch) as the Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration for Gujarat.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Mayatra will assume charge from the date of taking office and serve until December 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever comes first.

Mayatra is currently serving as Additional Commissioner for Rural Development in the Commissionerate of Rural Development. He has been instructed to relinquish his present responsibilities immediately to take up the new assignment. DeshGujarat
