Gauge Conversion Complete on Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma Rail Line; Safety Inspection Next Week

Sabarkantha: With the gauge conversion work on the 55 km Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma section of the Ahmedabad division of Western Railway now complete, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will conduct a safety inspection of this section from August 12 to August 14, 2025.
Meanwhile, today a speed trial was conducted using diesel locomotion from Himmatnagar railway station to Khedbrahma. During the trial, the diesel engine reached speeds between 120 and 130 km/h. According to railway sources, the train departed Himmatnagar at 10:11 AM and arrived at Khedbrahma at 10:47 AM, covering the 55 km distance in just 36 minutes.
For the return journey, the diesel engine left Khedbrahma at 11:22 AM and reached Himmatnagar at 11:50 AM, completing the same distance in only 28 minutes.
The Railway Board approved this gauge conversion project on June 2, 2022, at an estimated cost of Rs. 482.42 crore. New stations at Mahadevpura, Jadar, Wadali, and Idar have been constructed between Himmatnagar and Khedbrahma. A maximum speed of 110 km/h has been sanctioned for this new broad-gauge line.
Train operations on this route will commence after the final inspection and safety clearance. This development will provide direct rail connectivity from Asarwa to Khedbrahma, offering significant convenience and relief to passengers. DeshGujarat
