Ellisbridge MLA flags violations of Disturbed Areas Act, demands strict enforcement
August 07, 2025
Ahmedabad: Ellisbridge MLA Amit Shah has once again flagged the open violation of the Disturbed Areas Act (Ashant Dhara) in the city. He has demanded the immediate eviction of people living without proper documentation and urged the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to assist in enforcing the Act.
During the MP-MLA coordination meeting, Ellisbridge MLA Amit Shah submitted that the Disturbed Areas Act is not being properly enforced in the city and that many people are transferring properties without fulfilling legal requirements. He demanded the immediate eviction of such residents. He further stated that Ashant Dhara provisions are being openly flouted and also called for the demolition of illegally constructed buildings that violate the regulations.
Additionally, the MLAs raised issues related to increasing traffic problems and poorly maintained roads. The MLA from Vejalpur complained about the slow pace of ongoing works in his constituency and the inadequate pressure in the drinking water supply.
Furthermore, BJP MLAs made widespread representations regarding the severe hardships faced by citizens due to waterlogging across the city caused by heavy rains. To ensure that local MLAs are informed and understand the structural details of overbridges being constructed in their constituencies, it was suggested that bridge designs be presented to them. These issues were raised during the coordination meeting chaired by City Guardian Minister Rushikesh Patel. DeshGujarat
