Bhavnagar: The Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday flagged off the weekly express train between Bhavnagar and Ayodhya, which will significantly boost connectivity between Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
The inaugural special run of this service (Train No. 09201) departed from Bhavnagar on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Regular operations of the 19201/19202 Bhavnagar–Ayodhya Cantt.–Bhavnagar Express will begin on August 11, 2025, from Bhavnagar and on August 12, 2025, from Ayodhya Cantt, operating once a week.
Covering a total distance of 1,552 km in about 28 hours and 45 minutes, the train will connect 10 stations in Gujarat with cities like Ajmer and Jaipur in Rajasthan and Kanpur and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh before reaching Ayodhya Cantt.
The new train service will halt at key stations in Gujarat, starting from Bhavnagar Terminus and including Bhavnagar Para, Sihor, Dhola, Botad, Limbdi, Surendranagar, Viramgam, Mahesana, and Palanpur Junction before continuing its route.
The train features 22 coaches, including AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, Sleeper Class, General Class, and parcel/luggage vans. Its entire route will be electrified and operated by an electric locomotive, with primary maintenance handled at Bhavnagar.
As per the timetable, the journey from Bhavnagar to Ayodhya Cantt (Train No. 19201) is expected to take approximately 28 hours and 40 minutes at an average speed of about 54 km/h, while the return trip (Train No. 19202) will take around 30 hours and 15 minutes, averaging about 51 km/h.
The new service aims to improve connectivity for passengers from 10 places in Gujarat, linking them to key cities and pilgrimage destinations in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
