Delhi – Mumbai Expressway in Gujarat: Latest Package-wise Progress Update
July 25, 2025

Vadodara: Work on the 1,386 km-long, eight-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is progressing rapidly. To streamline construction, the project has been divided into several sections and packages. This report provides a detailed update on the 426 km stretch passing through Gujarat.
In Gujarat, the expressway is divided into two key segments: Delhi to Vadodara and Vadodara to Virar. The Delhi to Vadodara stretch comprises 31 packages overall, with Packages 26 to 31 located within Gujarat—each at different stages of completion.
Package 26 begins in Madhya Pradesh, enters Gujarat near Chhayan village in Dahod district, and extends to Bhimpura village; so far, 70% of the work is complete. Package 27 continues from Bhimpura past the Limkheda Interchange to Sant Road and is 94% complete. Package 28, covering the stretch between Sant Road and the Godhra Interchange, has reached 95% completion.
Package 29, which connects the Godhra Interchange to the Kalol Interchange, is fully complete. Meanwhile, Package 30—from Kalol Interchange to Pratapnagar—stands at 94% completion, and Package 31, running from Pratapnagar to the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway (NE1) Interchange at Dodka village in Vadodara district, is 96% complete.
The Vadodara to Virar section consists of 13 packages, with Packages 1 to 10 falling within Gujarat, starting from Vadodara and extending to the Maharashtra border.
In this segment, Packages 1, 2, and 3—which cover the Vadodara–Bharuch stretch—are now operational up to Dehgam village in Bharuch district, ensuring smooth connectivity. Package 4, from Manubar to Ankleshwar, is fully completed but has not yet been opened to traffic.
Packages 5 to 10 show varied progress: Package 5 (Ankleshwar to Kim Interchange) is 76% complete; Package 6 (Kim Interchange to Ena Interchange near Surat) is 100% complete and was temporarily opened last week. Package 7, covering about 28 km, is 92% finished.
However, progress is significantly slower in Packages 8, 9, and 10, which cover the Jujuwa to Talasari stretch in South Gujarat up to the Maharashtra border. Their completion levels stand at just 5%, 10%, and 96%, respectively. Notably, work on Package 8 has remained stalled at 5% since the last update in May.
Currently, only the Vadodara–Bharuch section and an additional 37 km stretch between Kim and Ena are open to traffic in Gujarat. While the central government had earlier informed Parliament that the entire expressway would be finished by October 2025, this target now seems unlikely. The ongoing monsoon has slowed construction further, and several packages are still far from completion. The only realistic hope for motorists is that the Vadodara to Surat stretch may open around Diwali, as it is nearly complete. DeshGujarat
