New Delhi: The Congress party today announced new appointments for its Gujarat unit. Anklav MLA Amit Chavda has been appointed as the President of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) with immediate effect, according to a statement issued by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal.

Chavda, who has been active in politics since his days in the NSUI, was first elected as an MLA in 2004 from Borsad and again in 2009. Later, he won three consecutive elections from the Anklav assembly constituency in 2012, 2017, and 2022. Chavda had earlier also served as the GPCC chief from 2018 to 2021 and was currently holding the post of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha.
