Alternative routes for traffic movement on Vadodara – Anand Highway amid Gambhira Bridge collapse

Anand: The Gambhira Bridge over the Mahisagar River, which links Central Gujarat to Saurashtra, collapsed early this morning. As a result, it has become necessary to stop traffic on this route to avoid any untoward incident. Keeping this in mind, Additional District Magistrate Rituraj Desai has issued a notification banning all types of vehicles from July 9 until the Gambhira Bridge is restored. All vehicles that previously used the Gambhira Bridge have now been diverted to alternative routes.

Regarding the restrictions, all types of vehicles have been banned on the Gambhira Bridge connecting Padra and Anand, and the Umeta Bridge has also been closed to heavy vehicles.

Diversion details are as follows:

  • Heavy vehicles travelling from Tarapur to Vadodara are being rerouted via Vasad.

  • Light vehicles from villages in Borsad taluka heading toward Vadodara are instructed to use the Umeta route instead of the Gambhira Bridge.

  • Heavy vehicles in the same area must take the Vasad route.

  • Similarly, vehicles from Padra heading toward Anand or Tarapur should use Umeta, while heavy vehicles must again opt for Vasad.

Anyone found violating this order will be liable for punishment under Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951. DeshGujarat
