250 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants deported in special IAF flight from Vadodara

Ahmedabad: In a major action against illegal immigration, 250 Bangladeshi nationals residing unlawfully in Gujarat have been deported to Dhaka. The deportation took place from Vadodara Air Force Station via a special flight under heavy security arrangements on Thursday.

The detainees were handcuffed during transit to prevent any untoward incidents and were brought to the airbase in four police-escorted buses from various parts of the state. Authorities ensured stringent security throughout the operation to guarantee its safe and smooth execution.

This move is part of an intensified drive by the Gujarat government, in coordination with central security agencies, to root out illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from the state. In the past two months alone, over 1,200 undocumented Bangladeshi nationals have been identified and deported.

Major cities such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot have become hotspots for undocumented migrants, prompting police and intelligence units to step up verification and surveillance. Several detainees were reportedly using fake identity documents, including forged Aadhaar and PAN cards.

The latest deportations followed a series of coordinated raids based on local intelligence inputs. Gujarat Police, along with central agencies, have stated that similar operations will continue in the coming weeks.

Earlier in May, more than 300 infiltrators were also sent back to Bangladesh. At that time too, they were brought to Vadodara in buses from districts including Ahmedabad and Surat and deported to their home country. DeshGujarat
