Air India to suspend Rajkot-Mumbai morning flight for over 15 days

Rajkot: Air India has announced the temporary suspension of its direct morning flight between Rajkot and Mumbai from June 27 to July 15, due to operational reasons. The 19-day halt will affect both business class and regular air travelers who rely on this early connection.

Under the regular schedule, Flight AIC 659 departs Mumbai at 6:35 AM and arrives at Rajkot International Airport at 7:55 AM. Its return leg, AI688, departs Rajkot at 8:40 AM and lands in Mumbai at 10:10 AM. Both legs of this flight will remain non-operational during the suspension period.

Sources indicate that the suspension is part of Air India’s phased cabin refurbishment process following its acquisition by the Tata Group, with select flights paused while aircraft interiors are upgraded.

Despite the morning flight suspension, Air India’s direct evening service from Rajkot to Mumbai at 6:05 PM will continue to operate as usual, arriving in Mumbai at 7:40 PM. Additionally, IndiGo’s 9 AM flight on the same route will remain unaffected, offering alternative options for passengers.

However, the absence of the early morning Air India flight is expected to cause inconvenience to regular business travelers. DeshGujarat
