June 23, 2025
Surat: The construction of the concourses on platform numbers four and five at Surat Railway Station has been completed. Measuring 145 meters in length and 85 meters in width, the concourse has been built 9 meters above the railway tracks. Its completion marks a major milestone in the station’s ongoing redevelopment project. Work on the area connecting the concourse is set to begin in the coming days.
A total of 41 girders have been installed in the concourse structure, each measuring 28.5 meters in length and weighing approximately 11 tons. The concourse is a key component of the station’s modernization. Upon entering the station, passengers will first arrive at this area, which will include a food court, shopping zone, and waiting rooms. Passengers will wait in the concourse until shortly before their train arrives, after which they will be allowed to proceed to the platforms.
The concourse will also feature digital displays with train information and indicator boards to help passengers identify the correct platform for their trains. DeshGujarat
