ACB Gujarat nabs peon for demanding bribe for marriage certificate process

Veraval: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today nabbed a municipal staffer red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹7,300 at the Veraval-Patan Joint Municipality Office in Veraval.
The accused, Govindbhai Saramanbhai Kamaliya (42), serving as a Peon (Patta Wala) in the Marriage Registration Branch of the municipality, allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹100 per group marriage file and ₹200 for other files submitted by the complainant for issuing marriage certificates. A total of 42 files were submitted, and Kamaliya demanded ₹7,300 in return for getting those files processed.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB Gir Somnath office. Based on the complaint, a trap was laid, and the accused was caught on the spot while accepting the entire bribe amount. DeshGujarat
