Gandhidham – Delhi NCR Double-stack container train service launched
June 18, 2025
Kutch: The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) today flagged off its first double-stack container train service from Gandhidham to Delhi-NCR. A new benchmark in logistics, the service commenced at 12:30 pm from the cargo shed of Gandhidham railway station.
The inauguration took place in the presence of CWC Director Samuel Praveen Kumar and Chief Engineer Rupendra Sharma. The service is available for both export-import and domestic cargo transport. According to CWC, this initiative will facilitate faster and more efficient movement of goods while significantly reducing logistics costs. Double-stack containers allow for higher cargo capacity, and rail transport offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to road transport by reducing carbon emissions.
Officials described the initiative as a significant step forward in supporting the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Green India’ campaigns. DeshGujarat
