Gujarati-origin Hindu youth among 3 attacked over ‘ethnicity’ in Harrow, UK

London: A British Hindu man of Gujarati origin, along with two others of Sri Lankan descent, was violently assaulted while playing cricket last week at Harrow, a prestigious UK public school known for its cricketing legacy.

The victims were rendered unconscious and hospitalized, with one suffering a fractured eye socket. The assailants, reportedly older Muslim men, approached the victims and questioned their ethnicity. They then accused the men of “staring at women in hijabs” before launching a brutal attack after the victims identified themselves as Indian and Sri Lankan.

Among the victims was a 20-year-old British Gujarati Hindu whose mother hails from Ahmedabad and whose father is of Ugandan Gujarati origin.

The victims’ families have expressed dissatisfaction with the police investigation, as no arrests have been made to date. The incident was raised in the UK Parliament by MP Bob Blackman. DeshGujarat
