Morbi: In a swift and successful trap operation, a police constable from Morbi was apprehended today by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹2.35 lakh. The accused, Hiteshbhai Sukhabhai Makwana, 31, a Police Constable (Class-3) stationed at Nagardarwaja Chowki, A Division Police Station, Morbi, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.

The complainant, a vigilant citizen, had purchased a plot of land in Nana Vavadi village, Morbi district, on September 6, 2024. Subsequently, a false application was filed at the Nagardarwaja Police Chowki regarding alleged fraudulent documentation concerning this plot. To prevent the registration of a case and to resolve the application, the accused constable, Makwana, initially demanded a bribe of ₹2.50 lakh from the complainant. After negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹2,35,000.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant contacted the ACB and lodged a complaint. Acting on this information, the ACB laid a trap today, June 4, 2025. The operation took place on the road beside Suresh Pan Parlor at Dalwadi Char Rasta in Morbi.

During the trap, the accused constable engaged in a purposeful conversation with the complainant and accepted the agreed-upon bribe amount of ₹2,35,000. He was immediately caught by the ACB team. The entire bribe amount of ₹2,35,000 was recovered from the accused.
