IAF to Conduct Major Air Exercise Over Gujarat; NOTAM Issued
June 04, 2025
New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to conduct a military exercise along the Indo-Pakistan border in Gujarat on Wednesday, June 4. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued for the drill, which is scheduled between 3:30 PM and 9:00 PM.
The upcoming IAF drill will feature frontline fighter aircraft such as Rafale, Sukhoi-30, and Jaguar jets, aimed at sharpening India’s combat readiness. The area under NOTAM includes southern Kutch and western parts of the Saurashtra region.
The exercise comes in the wake of India’s decisive response during Operation Sindoor, where the Armed Forces targeted multiple terror camps within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the night of May 6–7. Over 100 terrorists were eliminated, and significant terrorist infrastructure was destroyed.
Two days later, Pakistan retaliated with a swarm drone and missile attack against Indian military and civilian installations near the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, instead of opting to de-escalate. India responded strongly, launching strikes on key Pakistani airbases, including Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, in a move aimed at delivering a lasting message.
A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) is a communication issued to alert aviation personnel about temporary changes or unusual conditions at specific locations that could impact flight operations. These notices provide information not available in advance for standard publication and typically highlight irregularities in the National Airspace System (NAS) rather than routine updates. NOTAMs cover the status, changes, or establishment of any aeronautical facility, service, procedure, or potential hazard.
Earlier in May, the Indian Air Force (IAF) had issued a NOTAM for a major air exercise along the southern stretch of the Indo-Pakistan border, scheduled for May 7 and 8. As part of routine operational readiness drills, the exercise featured aerial manoeuvres along the International Border in Rajasthan and involved key frontline fighter jets, including Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Sukhoi-30 aircraft.
