New Delhi: According to the data shared by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), there are 26 major highway works currently under implementation in the state of Gujarat. These road infrastructure projects include two sections of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway project, the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway project, and the upgradation of highways in the Saurashtra region, which will enhance commuter comfort and connectivity.

Key Projects Underway

1. Delhi–Vadodara Greenfield Expressway (NH-148N)

Among the flagship developments is the Delhi–Vadodara Greenfield Alignment, with multiple packages—such as Pkg-26, Pkg-27, and Pkg-28—making significant strides. The financial progress of these packages ranges from 59.75% to 94.37%, with major contractors like GHV (India) Pvt. Ltd. and Atlas Construction Pvt. Ltd.–NKC JV steering the implementation. These sections were scheduled for completion between August 2024 and November 2023 but have faced delays and are not yet complete as of June 2025.

2. Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway (NE-4)

Several packages of the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway, including Kim to Ankleshwar, Gandeva to Ena, and Talsari to Karvad, are at various stages of implementation. While some sections, like the Gandeva to Ena stretch (Pkg VII), show over 90% completion, others, like Jujuwa to Gandeva (Pkg VIII), are still in the early phases. The expressway, once completed, will be a game-changer for trade and transit between Gujarat and Maharashtra.

3. Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway (NH-751)

The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, critical to connecting Gujarat’s first smart city—Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR)—is progressing rapidly. With four packages spanning a total length of over 109 km, the expressway has seen financial progress of up to 96.95%. Work is being handled by Gawar Construction Ltd., GHV (India), and Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Pvt. Ltd.

4. Widening & Upgradation Projects

Other major projects include key upgradation works such as the Jetpur–Gondal–Rajkot six-laning and the NH-341 Bhuj Airport Corridor. The Sanchore–Santalpur stretch on NH-754K and the Patan–Gojariya section on NH-68 are among the high-progress projects, with completion percentages above 69%, ensuring that once complete, they will significantly improve intra-state connectivity.
