Tapi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Friday nabbed Fatesingh Shantubhai Chaudhary (age 53), who works as a Technical Assistant in the MGNREGA department of the Taluka Panchayat, Dolvan. The contract employee was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹3,500 in a decoy operation.
According to ACB officials, the accused had demanded the bribe from a beneficiary to facilitate administrative and technical procedures for constructing a well under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The beneficiary’s name had been selected by the Gram Panchayat for the scheme, and the required documents were forwarded to the Taluka Panchayat office. Chaudhary allegedly demanded ₹3,500 in exchange for conducting a site inspection, preparing the project estimate, and obtaining the necessary technical and administrative approvals.
The complainant approached the ACB regarding the bribe demand. The ACB then laid a trap and caught Chaudhary while he was accepting ₹3,500 outside Krupa Xerox, near the GEB office at the shopping center in Dolvan.
The ACB has registered a case, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
