Children from Bihar Flee Illegally Run Madrasa in Prantij Alleging Tortures

Himatnagar, India – A distressing incident unfolded at Himatnagar Railway Station, where a group of children who had fled from a madrasa in Prantij, Sabarkantha district, were intercepted. The children, originally from Bihar, have made serious allegations of abuse against the madrasa administration.
According to initial reports, eight children escaped the madrasa in the early hours of the morning, around 2:00 to 2:30 AM. They were later found at the Himatnagar Railway Station, where a confrontation with madrasa officials ensued. Railway police intervened to protect the children.
The children have reported facing severe mistreatment at the madrasa. Their allegations include:
Physical Abuse: The children claim they were beaten with pipes and sticks, and authorities have noted injuries on their bodies.
Denial of Basic Needs: The children allege they were not allowed to drink water or use the restroom during 5 am to 12 noon.
Restrictive Conditions: They state that their daily routine began at 5:00 AM, and they were only given dal chawal (lentils and rice) to eat.
The children reported that they were brought from Bihar around April 12th by a Mufti(Muslim cleric). Out of a total of 46 children at the madrasa, 34 are reportedly from Bihar.
Authorities are currently investigating the claims. The children have been taken for medical examinations, including CT scans and X-rays. The findings of these medical reports will be crucial in determining the veracity of the children’s allegations. DeshGujarat
