Admission via GCAS portal: Over 1,800 free form-filling centres, helpline to be set up

Gandhinagar: Higher and Technical Education Minister Rushikesh Patel today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal in Gandhinagar.

The admission process for the academic year 2025–26 through the GCAS portal — launched last year to streamline admissions to government universities — will begin after the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) announces the 2025 exam results.

As part of proactive preparations, the meeting reviewed errors identified last year, recommendations of the Admission Advisory Committee, and departmental responsibilities to ensure the process remains efficient and student-friendly, in line with the Minister’s directions.

Minister Rushikesh Patel instructed all Vice Chancellors to make local-level arrangements to ensure that no student faces inconvenience during the admission process.

Earlier directives to set up free form-filling and verification centers in all government universities and colleges were also reviewed. A total of 1,838 free form-filling centers and 1,796 verification centers will be operational this year.

Additionally, the Minister directed officials to complete the integration of 12 to 14 additional parameters with the GCAS portal by April 15.

A dedicated helpline will also be made operational at both the state and university levels to provide information and resolve complaints related to the GCAS admission process.

It is worth noting that the GCAS portal was introduced last year as a one-stop solution for admissions to government university colleges, benefiting over 4.55 lakh undergraduate and postgraduate students in its first year.

Minister of State for Education Prafulbhai Pansheriya, Additional Chief Secretary Sunaina Tomar, and Vice Chancellors of all government universities in the state also attended the meeting. DeshGujarat
