Diesel locomotive trial run conducted on Himmatnagar – Idar – Vadali railway line
March 31, 2025
Sabarkantha: In good news for the people of North Gujarat, a trial run of a diesel locomotive engine was carried out on the Himmatnagar-Idar railway line. Work is underway to convert the Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma railway line to broad gauge.
After the trial, a CRS inspection will be conducted, and a diesel train service between Idar and Himmatnagar-Ahmedabad may commence. Notably, around 80% of the broad gauge conversion project is complete, and with its completion in the next few months, train services will begin. This will allow people from Sabarkantha to travel to Idar and Vadali more conveniently. Pilgrimage to Ambaji will also become easier.
In another development, passenger amenities at Himmatnagar railway station are being upgraded. Work has begun on constructing a second shed on Platform No. 1, one of the station’s three platforms.
Currently, the 546-meter-long platform has only a 45-meter shed. Several trains, including the Asarva-Udaipur, Asarva-Kota, Asarva-Jaipur, Asarva-Indore, and Asarva-Chittorgarh DEMU, operate from this platform. Passengers face difficulties during summer and monsoon seasons. To address this, a new 64-meter shed is being built near the FOB. DeshGujarat
