Man in Surat Arrested for Posing as Hindu and Deceiving a Migrant Hindu Widow in Affair

Surat: A man from Rander has been arrested for allegedly deceiving a widow from Adajan by posing as a Hindu and engaging in what is being described as “love jihad.” The accused, a father of two, reportedly befriended the woman on the pretext of marriage and then exploited her.

The 26-year-old woman, originally from Bihar and residing in Adajan, was alone after her husband was convicted in a murder case in Salabatpura. She was reportedly contacted via WhatsApp by a man named Dipak Shah.

The two developed a relationship over time, and after meeting in person, their friendship turned into a romantic relationship. Dipak promised to marry her. He then allegedly took her to hotels in Pal and Jahangirpura, where they engaged in sexual relations.

When Dipak failed to fulfill his promise of marriage, the woman went to his residence in Rander’s Teen Batti area. It was there that she found he was not Hindu but Muslim, and that his real name was Faizan Hanif Sheikh. She also learned that he was already a father of two.

After suffering eight months of exploitation, the woman filed a complaint against Faizan Sheikh. Adajan police arrested Faizan Hanif Sheikh (32), a resident of Teen Batti, Rander. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had also kept her in a house in the Rander area for about a month and a half, where he continued to sexually exploit her. DeshGujarat
